The general public is invited to get their sneakers out and head out to Coronation Park on June 7 to help the Chaleur Trail Alliance and the New Brunswick Trails Council Inc. celebrate International Trails Day.

Festivities will take place at the park from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and there will be plenty to do for everyone on what is intended to be a fun Saturday afternoon.

"We have confirmed Yennah Hurley, a Nordic walking instructor from Saint John, and Jim Cyr, chair of the Atlantic Canada Geocaching Association, who will be on site to introduce people to geocaching," said Jane Murphy of the New Brunswick Trails Council Inc.

The purpose behind this event is to showcase the trails in the region, and launch the concept of the Chaleur Trails Network with the theme for the day being "Sharing trails, Connecting People" to truly reflect that this is a project for the entire Chaleur region.

Various trail partners will be on hand to provide information on their various segments of trail, including Cyclo Chaleur, Mi'gmaq Trail and Sentier NB Trail.

A children’s event and seniors walk will also take place, and the Bathurst Community Band will perform.
