Alex Goodine of Bathurst was pronounced New Brunswick’s champion snowfighter during last month’s competiton in Miramichi.
"I wish to congratulate Alex on his success and thank all of the participants for the dedication they show to their careers as New Brunswick's snowfighters," said Transportation Minister Denis Landry who attended the competition. "Driving a snowplow requires skill and concentration and the ability to stay calm in a stressful situation. The championship was a great way for our operators to showcase their abilities and for the department to express its appreciation for their achievements."
Mr. Goodine and Mr. Mercier got a second chance to test their snowplow driving talents against their Quebec colleagues at the Quebec Snowplowing Championships in Lévis, Que., held last Saturday..
Two snowplow operators from MRDC Operations Corp. also participated in last month's competition. They, and a colleague from Brun-Way Operations, went on to compete in the private-sector category of the Quebec championship.
