Q: What do you prefer, country or rock and roll?
I prefer country. I grew up with rock and roll but it never changed my love for country music. I particularly enjoy the older country music songs that have a story and a message to them. I also enjoy artists such as Elvis Presley and the Beatles. Really, anything that has a good beat, is easy to listen to, and the words are clear.
Q: Favourite food?
Seafood and all kinds. I am lucky enough to be living in a region that has some of the greatest seafood in the world. Bay of Chaleur lobsters are my favourite during the season. However, I do travel a lot and have tried many kinds of fish. I always appreciate the quality of Atlantic Canadian products and how even in Florida or Vancouver, a P.E.I. oyster or an Atlantic salmon is featured on the menu.
Q: Pet peeve?
Airline seats. They are so small with little space and invariably the person ahead puts their seat back. Then you have no space.
Q: What's your hobby?
Coin and paper money collecting. It's been a hobby of mine since I was 13 years old. Over the years, I have also developed an ongoing interest in antiques.
Q: Last movie you've seen?
The last movie I saw was Kung Fu Panda. I went to see that with my 12-year-old grandson on his birthday. It was actually quite and interesting and a good movie – not what I had expected.
Q: Favourite holiday?
Christmas. For me, it is a joyous and festive occasion. I realize that it is not that way for lots of people but I have been fortunate enough for it always to have been a great occasion for me.
Q: Favourite way to spend vacation?
Hunting or fishing with family and friends. We have had some great trips. I also would like to try a vacation just hanging out and doing nothing but I don't expect that to happen very soon.
Q: Who do you admire?
I really admire people who have had a difficult or humble start in life but have gone on to become successful, raise and educate their families and over make a meaningful contribution to society. I truly do admire thier courage and commitment.
Q: Best advice you've ever received?
The best advice I have ever received came from my father who told me to never make enemies and to always look for the best in people. He gave me that advice the night before he died.
Q: Best thing about living in the Chaleur region?
The best things about living in the Chaleur region are the people and the quality of life here. The more I travel, the more I appreciate that. What more can I say – we have the best!
