Military service is a family tradition for the family of Sid Wiseman in Bathurst. Mr. Wiseman himself was in the Canadian Forces at one time, and so was his wife, Kathy. However, she left the service 30 years ago to raise her family and recently re-enlisted, graduating at Canadian Forces Base Borden, Ont. as a resource management support clerk and is now posted at CFB Cold Lake, Alberta. Meanwhile, sons Syd and Philip and daughter Maria are now in the service as well. Sid and Philip, both 2004 grduates of Bathurst High School, enlisted last year and are now with the Royal Canadian Artillery, posted at CFF Petawawa, Ont. Maria, a 1999 graduate of BHS, enlisted in 2006 and is also posted at CFB Petawawa. All three of the younger Wisemans will be heading overseas later this summer for tours of duty in Afghanistan. Shown from left are Philip, Kathy, Maria and Sid.
