Coalition troops kill four militants in Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan - The U.S.-led coalition says its troops have killed four militants, including an al-Qaida commander, in central Afghanistan.

The coalition says two other militants were detained during Friday's operation in Ghazni province.

The force did not identify the al-Qaida commander in its statement Saturday. It said those killed and detained were involved in attacks against Afghan and foreign troops.

More than 4,700 people - mostly militants - have died in insurgency-related violence so far this year, according to an Associated Press count of figures provided by Afghan and Western officials.
