To The Editor:

The board of directors and employees of the Bathurst Animal Shelter/Gloucester SPCA would like to thank all the supporters of the Dog Days of August. This successful fundraiser was held Aug. 15 to 17 at Robert Payne's beautiful property in South Tetagouche.

Without the support of many businesses, the bands (Bad Motor, Art Ward and Thin Ice and Darby Hooker),everyone who got on stage and jammed, all the volunteers and especially Robert Payne and family, this event would not have been a success. Many thanks to all these people, who are too numerous to mention here (we also don't want to inadvertently leave anyone out).

Thanks, too, of course, to everyone who attended. This event was a lot of fun for a good cause – we raised more than $900 – and some rainy weather certainly didn't dampen anyone's spirits.

Plans have already started for a similar event in 2009 - we will keep you posted. In the meantime, hope to see everyone out for our annual Dog Jog fundraiser, coming up on Sept. 13 (rain date Sept. 20).
