The Bathurst Minor Hockey Association handed out their year-end awards on April 24 at a banquet at Ecole Secondaire Nepisiguit.

The Coutts family were presented with a plaque at the Bathurst Minor Hockey Association's year end banquet in appreciation of their dedication to its programs. From the novice Bruins, Joshua Blanchard was named the most improved player, Shaun Hachey won the sportsmanship award and Reilly Riordon was named most dedicated player.

From the Novice Titan, Yannick Gauvin was named most improved, Clark Payne most sportsmanlike and Connor Branch most dedicated.

Remi Pitre was the most improved player on the Atom Bears, while Katherine Hamel was named the teams most sportsmanlike player, Andrew Losier most dedicated and Corey LeBreton most valuable player on the same team.

From the Atom Titan, the awards went to Jessica O'Brien, most improved; Adam Mallet, most sportsmanlike; Barry Riordon, most dedicated; and Riley Scott, most valuable player.

Most improved player for the Atom AA Panthers was Levy Burtt, most sportsmanlike Andrew Guignard, most dedicated Keith Sherrard and most valuable player Riley Scott.

Peewee Aliant winners included Jordan Couture, most improved; Mathew Aube, most sportsmanlike; Andrew Knowles, most dedicated; and Michel Taillon, most valuable player.

From the Peewee Wolves Nicolas Gionet was named most improved, Emily Butler most sportsmanlike, James Bernier most dedicated and Patrick Marion most valuable.

Molly MacDermaid was named most improved player on the Peewee AA Panthers, Ryan LeBlanc most sportsmanlike, Philippe Patterson most dedicated and Megan Sullivan most valuable player.

From the Bantam Blue Notes, Chris Gauthier was named most improved, Shane Branch most sportsmanlike, Ryan O'Neil most dedicated and Michel Mazzerole most valuable.

From the Bantam Bulls Jessie Fisher was named most improved, Trevor Adams most sportsmanlike, Jamie Bertin most dedicated and Pierre Maillet most valuable.

From the Bantam AA Attack Tyler Sisk was named most improved, Jillian Ferguson most sportsmanlike, Cody Marks most dedicated and Frank Richard most valuable.

From the Midget Thrashers, Alain Duguay was named the most improved, Olivier Doiron most sportsmanlike, Luc MacDonald most dedicated and Eric Doucet most valuable player.

From the Midget AA team, Matthew Langlais was named most improved, Kent Knowles most sportsmanlike, Jeremy Faulds most dedicated and Craig Glendenning most valuable.

Kristy Dobson and Jeff Glendenning shared the award for top goaltender in the competitive division, while Jamie Bertin was named best goaltender in the recreational division.

The coaches of the year in the competitive division were Mike Saulnier, Bruce Glendenning, Jonathan McCallum and Jamie Ramsay.

In the recreational division, the coaches recognized were Alan Coutts, Paul Godin, Chris Petrie and Tim Adams.

Other awards handed out included the the Fred McKay memorial award, given to the house league player who best exemplifies the qualities of dedication and determination, that was awarded to Fred Coutts. In addition, Brian Chamberlain was singled out for his volunteer contributions to the society and the Coutts family were singled out for their dedication to the Bathurst Minor Hockey Association.

Former Acadie-Bathurst Titan captain Jordan Clendenning was the evening's guest speaker.
