WEDNESDAY
--The annual meeting for the Pacquito Early Intervention Centre will be held at 7 p.m. at NBCC Bathurst, 725 College St., in Room 221.
--The monthly meeting of the Holy Family Council CWL will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Holy Family Church basement with the executive meeting at 6:30 p.m.
FRIDAY
--The St. George's ACW Organ Guild is having a yard and rummage sale from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.at St. George's Church Hall, 432 King Ave.
SATURDAY
--Rummage sale at St. George's Church Hall continues from 8 a.m. til 12 noon.
--Thinking of making a furry addition to your family? The Gloucester SPCA/Bathurst Animal Shelter will have a pet adoption fair at Place Bathurst Mall from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Adoptions are approved based on an application form. --There will be a giant yard sale on May 24 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Parkwood Elementary School.
--The Anglican Parish of New Bandon will hold a lobster supper on May 24 at Christ Church Hall in Clifton. Settings are at 4 p.m, 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. The cost is $15 for adults, $7.50 for children 12 and under. All tickets sold in advance. --Five local churches have joined forces one again this year for a bilingual music concert to raise money for the Pink Ribbon Campaign. The second annual concert will take place May 24 at 7 p.m. at Ecole Secondaire Nepisiguit and will include a performance by Higher Ground, a rhythm and blues band from Moncton, along with musical numbers from the churches involved, door prizes and refreshments. Tickets are available at Music City at a cost of $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under, with proceeds being used to help purchase a new digital mammography machine for the Chaleur Regional Hospital.
--The Bathurst branch of the New Brunswick Society of Retired Teachers will hold its annual meeting and luncheon on May 27 at 11:30 a.m. in the Florence Roussy Seniors Room at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre. This will also be a "bring and buy" event.
---Parkinson Society, Maritime Region proudly presents Dr. Kyna Squarey, a neurologist who will speak on the topic of "Parkinson's: A Neurlogist's View" on May 27 from 7 pm. to 9 pm. in the amphitheatre at the New Brunswick Community College on College Street. This free information session will be of special interest to all family physicians, nurses, anyone living with Parkinson's, their friends and family, pharmacists, as well as caregivers, both professional and family. --The next meeting of the Bathurst Christian Women's Club will be May 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Danny's Inn and Conference Centre in Beresford. Guest speakers are Terry Ouellette of Property Guys.com in Bathurst and Lindy Taylor, of Truro N.S., whose topic will be "Giving Thanks, No Matter What." --There will be a concert called Music Speaks on May 31 and June 1 at 7 p.m. in the Gwendolyn Kent Auditorium at Bathurst High School. This will be a fundraiser in support of Chaleur Palliative Care with a special musical tribute to Elizabeth Lord and the Boys In Red. Featured performers will be Stay Tuned (a vocal group made up of Stacy Hickey-Buraglia, Rosalind Kennedy-Townsend, Dorothy Roy-Nini and Bernice Winsor), guitarist John Boulay, the BHS Musical Theatre Troupe, Take Note and Chad Townsend. There will also be a community ensemble choir.
--Theatre Verte will present the play Peur et Prejuges by Claudine Arseneau Roy from June 6 to 8 at the Muncipal Building in Pointe-Verte. The evening will include a lobster supper. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and supper is at 6 p.m. The cost is $32 per person (with supper) or $10 (without supper). Tickets on sale at the Depanneur Camie (Esso) in Pointe-Verte. Tickets for the supper must be purchased by June 3.
--A fun fashion show and tea will be held June 7 at 2 p.m. at St. George's Church Hall, 432 King Ave. Tickets are $12 in advance.
OTHER HAPPENINGS
--The Canadian Red Cross is seeking volunteers to work in the Bathurst office at 216 Main St. For more info, please call 548-2824.
--Eight $300 scholarships are being offered by the Ladies Auxiliary New Brunswick Command, Royal Canadian Legion. Awarded on a point system, they're available to students attending colleges, trade schools or universities. Closing date for applications is June 30. For more info or an application form (available in French or English), go on line at www.nb.legion.ca under the category of youth, then bursaries.
--The SPCA Bookstore, at 695 St. Peter Ave., is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Book donations, hard and soft cover, are welcome. All proceeds go to the Bathurst Animal Shelter/Gloucester SPCA.
-The Bathurst Volunteer Centre is always in need of food donations in order to serve the needy. Any restaurant, store or individuals who may be left with food items that will go unused, please think of donating to the centre. Call 549-5955.
