School District 15: Caldwell, Marcoux top winners in English public speaking contest

Twenty-five English students from around School District 15 gathered at Belledune School on April 16 for the Annual Public Speaking Competition.

All District 15 students, from Grade 6 and up, had the opportunity to participate, giving them a chance to win gold, silver or bronze medals for their school.

A panel of judges was chosen from the surrounding communities.

It should be noted this was the first time there were Grade 6 students competing in this event, and there were no Grade 9 competitors.

The overall winners from middle school and high school were Heather Ann Caldwell and Carson Marcoux respectively. They will now advance to the Provincial Public Speaking Competition, to be held May 9 at St.Thomas University in Fredericton.
