Murray Dalfen has Bathurst abuzz.

Merchants downtown are banding to voice support for a pair of proposals the Montreal businessman hopes to present to Bathurst city council Monday behind closed doors.

Mr. Dalfen would like to see parking meters in Downtown Bathurst become a thing of the past. He'd like to see angle parking on Main Street, and perhaps most significantly, he'd like to see Murray and King Avenues as two way streets.

A 40-person delegation from Bathurst's twin city in France, St. Aubin sur Mer, will arrive for a visit Aug. 15. Bathurst has been twinned with the village since 1984.

During the D-Day landings in 1944, the invasion which began the liberation of France from German occupation during the Second World War, the North Shore Regiment fought on the beaches at St. Aubin sur Mer.

The Regiment, which is still around today, was made up of soldiers from communities in Northeast New Brunswick.
