The intersection of Highway 11 and 8 near Bathurst was closed off on Aug. 20 for just under two hours as Bathurst City Police, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Bathurst Fire Department and the Regional Hazordous Material (Haz-Mat) Unit investigated a scene. A passing motorist called the Bathurst Fire Department shortly after 11 a.m. when they noticed a white powdery substance on the road. It was determined the substance was cement which had fallen from a pail from a vehicle traveling the road.
