Campbellton city council recently presented several volunteers with recognition awards.

Earlier this winter, council invited members of the community to submit names for awards to recognize people in the community who donate their time for worthy causes.

Christine Paradis has spent much of her life volunteering for various causes, most notably the Glencoe Community Centre, and was picked as the winner in the community life category while Jean-René Arseneault was recognized for his work in sports and recreation for his work with youth in baseball and hockey.

High school student Alexandre Veilleux was chosen as the young volunteer or recruit winner for his participation in numerous activities or committees, such as student council and the community itself.

The winner in the tribute and achievement award was the Campbellton Richelieu Club, which has donated more than $110,000 to various causes over the last five years.

Others were also saluted as worthy nominations including Linda Levesque (community life), Alexandra Daigle (young volunteer or recruit),  Lynn Bujold (tribute and achievement) and the Montagnards Outdoor Club (sports and recreation).
