Chantale Haché and her husband Luc will open the new shipping container canteen, café and bar next to their ice cream shop La Gläcerie, in the Beresford Curling Club parking lot next to the Friends of Healthcare Park and just down the road from the Beresford Beach.

“I think that the area of the beach and the playground kind of needed a little special place families can gather during the beautiful days of the summer,” Haché said.

Haché is a nurse by trade, but left the job to become an entrepreneur alongside her husband with their container ship business Elevation Enterprises a number of years ago.

With a passion for the Beresford area, Haché said her entrepreneurial spirit evolved as new opportunities presented themselves.

“We had the opportunity to open at this location,” she said of the food businesses, “so we decided to just jump right in and decided to operate as well.”

La Kantïne Belle-Baie will be built with two stacked shipping containers, Haché said. The bottom container will prepare and serve typical canteen foods with gourmet grilled cheese and specialty poutines, along with other unique items. Beverages will be served upstairs onto a rooftop patio.

“You can sit down and maybe have a glass of wine and look at the beautiful scenery,” she said.

The business is expected to open in early June.
