Letter to the editor | Province should spend money on roads as opposed to golf courses

To the Editor:

Buying a car this spring? Here’s how to check if it is a good one or not.

Drive down Vanier Boulevard and continue outside the city limits - you don't have to look for any city limit signs, the road conditions will tell you when you're there.

After weaving right and left and bouncing over the ruts, you just might make it to St. Andre Street. Turn left there.

Now take a deep breath – you'll need it. St. Andre is not only narrow, but has no sidewalks and is cursed with potholes and ruts. In the winter, people can't even walk safely here because of the snowbanks and traffic.

Now, if your car still has brakes and steering, stop at the stop sign. Turn right or left - both ways are equally hazardous.

If you can make it back to the city, you might have a passable car.

For too long, the 1,000 or so people in Ste. Anne have been ignored. Instead of the province investing $5 million in a Moncton golf course, this money has to be spent on our provincial parks and on our roads – not only for us, the taxpayer, but to attract and keep tourists.
