The owners of Danny's Speedbowl Ltd. predict that the 1968 stock car season at the bowl should prove to be the best season yet.

Bob DeGrace and Dave Kenny based their prediction by saying that they gained a great deal of knowledge from last year's operation. They said that the '68 season will certainly benefit from last year's experience, especially the bigger races like the "Provincial 100" and the "International."

APRIL 1978

About a dozen unemployed unionized sheet metal workers in the Robertville area began demonstrating Tuesday at the construction site of the new Robertville school.

A spokesman for the protesters said that they objecting to a sub-contractors hiring of non-unionized workers. They said that the sub-contractor has the advantage in making bids in that he does not have to pay union rates and can therefore contract at a lower rate.

APRIL 1988

Archaeologists from the Department of Tourism, Recreation and Heritage are digging up the past this week at Youghall.

A crew of four is looking for Indian artifacts at Alston Point, just north of the Bathurst Marina. The quantity of artifacts found will help the government decide if the area should be designated a protected archaeological site and help piece together a historical puzzle.
