Few have had the privilege of actually seeing the legendary Phantom Ship. It's appearance is unpredictable and infrequent.
But on the morning of Aug. 26, the eerie ship sailed on the bay once more and was spotted by Donald and Lois Hudon of Bathurst.
Mrs. Hudon said her husband was getting ready to leave for work from their Janeville cottage around 6:20 a.m. when he came back inside and asked for his binoculars.
He thought that one of the hearing boats had caught on fire.
"With the naked eye, it was just a glow," she said, but with the binoculars the Hudons could clearly see what looked like a flaming ship out on the bay.
