St. Isidore Asphalte Ltee was awarded a paving tender for $398,261.72 (HST included) for work that will be done on Johnson Street and Harbourview Boulevard.

Appointments made

Valentine Ward has been reappointed to the board of directors for the Smurfit-Stone Public Library Board for a term ending in September 2010. Pierre Doucet has been appointed for a term ending at the same time.

Meanwhile, Shirley Jamieson and Michael Willett were appointed to the Planning Advisory Committee for terms of office ending as determined.

Rezoning requests

Eugene Guignard and Lisa Guignard are seeking a zoning bylaw amendment in order to allow for a four-unit apartment building at 885 Vanier Boulevard.

Glen Ferguson has requested that the land use designation for the former Bathurst Ski Chalet/Duet Cafe restaurant on Golf Street be changed. This would allow the building to be converted for use as a single family dwelling and to allow commercial use.

Tower okayed

Rezoning was okayed to allow 1645 St. Peter Ave. to be changed from a designation of institutional to communication tower. This gives the green light to Bell Canada's plan to erect a communications tower at that site, which will improve cellular service and reception in general for the company's wireless network.

The tower, made out of galvanized steel, will stand 37 metres or 129 feet high
