Swimmers clean up at provincial meet in Fredericton

The Bathurst BLAST Piranhas Swim Team made quite a splash at the Marianne Limpert team championships last weekend in Fredericton.

The BLAST swimmers, who were part of the Tsunami team, finished first in the overall team championship while individual swimmers brought home a total of 30 medals.

Marie-Pier Daigle lead the way with four first and two second place finishes. Competing in the girls 13 and 14-year-old age group, Daigle won gold in the 800-metre freestyle, 200-metre butterfly, 400-metre freestyle and 400-metre individual medley.

Other medal winners included Christophe Sirois, gold in both the 200-metre butterfly and 400-metre individual medley along with three second place finishes; Dylan Wood, gold in both the 50-metre butterfly and 800-metre freestyle along with two second place finishes; Olivier Sirois, three silvers and one bronze; Revanth Goli, two silver and two bronze; and Alexandre Drolet, three bronze.

Josée Boudreau, Laurence Boucher, Maude Boucher and Alexander Giroux also swam to a bronze medal each.
