Men's Night at the Squire Green Course will tee off once again this week at 5:45 p.m. to ensure golfers are able to play nine holes before darkness sets in.

Following last week's play, Kinecor still leads the points standings with 77, followed by City Centre with 75 points and Stothart Toyota with 74. Team Dave Kenny is fourth, with 72 points, followed by a three-way tie for fifth between The Pizza Shack Boys, Chaleur Building Supplies and Team Hole in One, who all have 67 points apiece. Rounding out the top 10 are Team Russel Berchevaise, with 63 points; the Fun Bunch, with 57; and Xstrata Zinc, with 55.

Several teams mentioned last week that they were interested in using their mulligans for Men's Night on Aug. 12. Those wishing to do so, for either of the last two weeks, must inform Dave Tardiff by no later than the conclusion of tonight's prize presentations. So far this season, only The Fun Bunch have used their mulligan, which allows teams to still accumulate a full eight points one week during the season even if they have less than a full roster of golfers that night.

The sponsor for Men's Night this week is Tower Jewelers while Ryan's Pub and Steakhouse will be putting on the meal.

As for Ladies Night, the sponsor this Thursday will be Labatts.

The sign up sheet for this Saturday's Coca-Cola Open is now full and there is a waiting list of golfers who would like to play. Because of that, those who signed up are asked to pay their registrations by Wednesday to confirm their place in the tournament so that places can be opened up for those waiting to get in as soon as possible.

The cost to play is $22 for members and $43 for guests and includes 18 holes of golf, a roast beef dinner and prizes. Everything will get underway in the Texas Scramble style event on Saturday with a shotgun start at 12 noon. A reminder as well that power carts for Saturday are being reserved on a first-come first-served basis. For more information. call the clubhouse at 544-7888.

A big thank you to Raoul and Angella Vienneau who coordinated our junior program this summer. Twelve young golfers took part in the program, which ended last Thursday.

Grace Lee Kenny is the course manager at the Squire Green Golf Course.
