Congratulations to Adam Chamberlain, on repeating his second place finish in the Assistant Pro Tournament in Truro, N. S. last month.

Adam, assistant pro at the Gowan Brae Golf and Country Club, shot scores of 71 and 73 to finish, for the second year in a row, tied for second at the event. To place so well once is excellent, to repeat a top rank finish proves it is the result of a high level of ability.

Members are reminded to sign up for the Howard Doucet Memorial Tournament, which takes place on Sept. 13. This is one of the premium events at the club, and fills up quickly, so get your $30 entry fee in ASAP.

Please also remember to support the annual Muscular Dystrophy Breakfast, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the following day, Sept. 14. Tickets for this event are available from Gord LeBlanc in the pro shop. Support a worthy cause and remember, a good breakfast is a great way to start your day.

Yet another worthy cause will be supported by the Golf For Cancer tournament on Sept. 17. Teams should consist of four players and those raising donations of $100 or more will have their names recorded on a plaque at the club house. For more information, see the notice in the pro shop.

Something new is planned for Sept. 20, and it could be the penultimate event of the season. The first, of what we hope will become and annual Three Man Scramble will tee off that day at 1 p.m. Played according to NBGA (New Brunswick Golf Association) rules, it will cost $40 per player to take part, including a meal, with the deadline to sign up being Sept. 16.

A handicap card is required to enter, and the team handicap must total more than 10.

The final event of the season will be the always fun Cross Country Tournament scheduled for Oct. 18.

In the seniors match play with no handicap, Harold McLean defeated Rex Edwards. In the ongoing spring handicap series, Robert Beaudet won in a coin toss over Stephane McLean and Paul Gendreau beat Shawn Doucet.
