The dates are set and the Ecole Secondaire Nepisiguit auditorium and the adjudicators are booked. The participants are registered, so all the Bathurst Music Festival needs now are music-lovers to come and enjoy the performances.

The festival runs at ESN from 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, until noon on Wednesday, May 7, with a final Concert of the Stars at ESN on Sunday, May 11 at 2 p.m.

Admission prices for the festival are $5 per session, $10 per day, or $25 for the four days. Students may attend any sessions free of charge. For the Concert of the Stars, admission is $10 for a family, $5 for adults and $3 for students.

The festival opens with performances by the Bathurst High School and ESN bands and jazz bands. In the evening, the community band will play, as well as several instrumental ensembles.

Monday morning will open with the bands from Superior Middle School and Terry Fox Elementary schools, followed by instrumental solos. At 1p.m. on Monday the piano classes begin and continue through the afternoon. The evening will be piano sight-reading, which is not open to the public.

Piano classes continue on Tuesday, beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing all afternoon. There are no classes on Tuesday evening.

On Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., choir competitions begin, ending at noon hour.

Judges include Richard Gibson, who combines composing and arranging with teaching theory and composition at the Université de Moncton, who will be judging the instrumental classes.

Sister Claudette Melanson, a teacher of piano and music theory, has adjudicated at many festivals in the Maritimes. In 2003 she was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus from the Université de Moncton. She will adjudicate the piano classes.

Bathurst's own Nicole Pitre will judge the choir classes. A former music teacher, she has many years of experience conducting and singing in choirs.

Free festival programs will be available at the door. Additional information is available by contacting Suzanne Dugas at 542-9145.
