Halifax going Summersonic with outdoor concert in July

The first annual Summersonic outdoor music festival will feature critically acclaimed regional, national and international acts at the Garrison Grounds on Citadel Hill in Halifax, N.S. on Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20.

Saturday's lineup of performers includes 2007 Juno Award-winner, folk-rocker City and Colour, indie-rock buzz band Tokyo Police Club, award-winning folk-rock icons The Weakerthans along with 2007 Juno-nominated and ECMA award-winning pop-rock group In-Flight Safety and folk-electronic songstress Rebekah Higgs.

Sunday's line up includes multiple Juno Award nominees, alternative pop-rock group Stars and 2008 JUNO Award winning rock band Wintersleep along with Newfoundland pop-rockers Hey Rosetta! and Halifax-based alternative up-and-comers I See Rowboats.

Recently nominated for the 2008 MuchMusic Video Award (MMVA) for People's Choice Favourite Canadian Artist, City and Colour's Dallas Green is touring in support of his certified gold sophomore release Bring Me Your Love. Known as the guitarist for Juno Award winning band Alexisonfire, Green has received mass acclaim for his unique blend of folk-rock. His platinum selling debut album Sometimes took home the 2007 Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year and garnered him the 2006 MMVA for People's Choice Favourite Canadian Artist.

Winnipeg's veteran indie-rockers The Weakerthans are out in support of their fourth full length Reunion Tour. Winners of multiple Western Canadian Music Awards including Outstanding Songwriter and Outstanding Independent Album in 2004 for their album Reconstruction Site, The Weakerthans also received a 2001 Juno Award nomination for Best Alternative Album for their heralded release Left and Leaving.
