Local singers among Maritime Idol finalists

The last semi-final of season two of Maritime Idol was held June 14 in Pointe du Chene and 14-year-old Dallas Bryan of Chignecto, N.S. walked away with $2,000 in prizes.

Second place and $1,000 in prizes was awarded to Jessica Warman, 18, from Miramichi and third place and $500 in prizes went to Crystal Doiron, 30, also from Miramichi.

Regional winners and special invitees performed with the Maritime Idol band in front of a live audience and the judges. Due to numerous ties, producer Ron Pomerleau made the decision to move all 14 on to the year-end finale coming up in July at the University of Moncton.

In addition to those singers, other yearend finalists are : Sarah Chettiar (Bathurst), Heidi Ellis (Ellerslie, PE), and Jessika Aube (Bathurst, NB), Sylvie Caisse (Moncton), Jessica Jewell (Point de Bute, NB), Chanel Weir (Halifax), Tanya Gallant (Rogersville), Laura Guptill (Grand Manan), Britanie LeFait (Minto), Brittany Billings (Centreville), Holly Jane Sock (Elsipogtog), Jillian Guptill (St. George), and Michelle Jardine from Blackville.

The year-end competition is scheduled for July 26 at the pavillon Jeanne de Valois on the University of Moncton campus for a recording contract along with other prizes.
